A meaningful ceremony was held to honor the late Peruvian women’s volleyball legend Park Man-bok.

“To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and Peru, the association and the Peruvian Embassy in Korea held a ceremony to unveil a bronze plaque of the late coach Park Man-bok at the 온라인카지노 Olympic Gymnasium on Hanyang University’s Seoul campus,” the Korea Volleyball Association said on Friday. The unveiling ceremony was attended by Oh Han-nam, president of the association, Peruvian Ambassador to Korea Paul Duclos, and Hanyang University Vice President Jung Hyun-chul.

Park was appointed head coach of the Peruvian women’s national volleyball team in 1974 and led the team to a silver medal at the 1982 FIVB World Championship. He also led the team to seven South American championships from 1977 to 1993.

The Hanyang University Olympic Gymnasium, where the commemorative bronze plaque was installed, was the site of the 1988 Seoul Olympics women’s volleyball final between Peru and Russia. Under her leadership, the Peruvian team won the Olympic silver medal, and Park was hailed as a national hero.

In 2016, Park became the first Korean to be inducted into the International Volleyball Federation Hall of Fame. Park passed away in Peru in 2019 at the age of 83.
