The general consensus was that there was no better candidate for the captaincy than Son Heung-min, given his position and symbolism within Tottenham.
Postecoglou, the new Spurs manager, recognized that Son had the qualities to be a leader. Postecoglou said that Son has shown great leadership on and off the field, and that everyone at Tottenham looks up to him. Postecoglou also appreciated the fact that Heung-min gets along with everyone on the team, regardless of group.
As expected, Son has been leading Tottenham with his warm leadership. His leadership has been recognized in a variety of ways, with fans praising him for his one goal and one assist against Sheffield United, and teammates including James Maddison praising his leadership.
Postecoglou once again praised Son for his leadership. In a press conference ahead of the match against Chelsea, Postecoglou was asked if he thought Son was a good captain before and if he thinks he has returned to his old form since becoming captain.
“I think it was the right choice to make Son Heung-min the captain,” Postecoglou said. I’ve known him as a player for a long time. “I know he had some physical issues last year. But he enjoys playing soccer and wants to make an impact on the team. I think that adds to his responsibility.”
