New York Mets right-hander Senga Kodaly’s 2024 season is on the verge of ending in vain.
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza reported Senga’s season out in an interview with local media such as “MLB.com ” ahead of the home game against the Atlanta Braves on the 28th (Korea Standard Time).
He said an MRI examination of Senga found a “pretty high degree” of calf muscle sprain, adding that the regular season is not possible.
Senga started at home against Atlanta the day before, but was injured while pitching in the sixth inning.
He induced an infield fly ball against Austin Riley and injured his left leg while leaving the mound not to interfere with the fielders’ defense.
He collapsed on the floor as it was, complaining of extreme pain and eventually left the mound as it was.
After facing the season on the injured list due to a shoulder injury, he became a winning pitcher with two hits, one homer, one walk, nine strikeouts, and two runs in 51/3 innings, but he will not be able to show this for the time being.
Mendoza said “the regular season can’t come out” and that he still has a chance of returning if the team advances to the postseason in October, but his return is not guaranteed.
Mendoza said, “It’s a huge loss for the team. But we’ve managed to get this far without him so far. To lose him is annoying for everyone, but if he comes back and throws it again, that means we’re in a great position. I hope so.”토토사이트 추천
The latest injury will also have a significant impact on Senna. Senna, who signed a five-year, 75 million-dollar contract with the Mets ahead of the 2023 season, has included an opt-out clause that allows him to break his contract and enter the FA market if he finishes 400 innings until the 2025 season.
However, the injury effectively made the clause unworkable.
Tyler Megill was called up and rejoined the rotation. He was 2-4 with a 5.08 ERA in the previous eight games.
