Diogo Costa is attracting attention from Saudi Arabia and the Premier League (PL).

“The Saudi PIF has added Costa’s name to the list of goalkeepers,” Rudy Galetti, a transfer market expert, said on his SNS account on the 29th (Korea time). “He has a contract with Porto until 2027. He is highly regarded by the Premier League.”

Costa is a high-quality goalkeeper of Portuguese nationality. He is 189 centimeters tall and is a sweeper-type goalkeeper suitable for modern soccer. He boasts high defense capability in a 1:1 match, good predictability, and good defense rate of penalty kicks. He is quick in judgment and bold in handling balls, and is also actively involved in build-ups through passes.

Born and raised in Porto, he is a young adult. From his youth days to his professional debut, he has never worn a uniform for another team. Debuting on the adult stage in the 2019-20 season, he grew up fast and became the mainstay of the team from the 2021-22 season.

He has displayed outstanding performances every season. He played in more than 30 league matches, recorded double-digit clean sheets, and maintained a zero-point losing rate. He also played in 44 matches, including the Cup, and posted 17 clean sheets in the 2023-24 season.

He also stood as No. 1 in the national team. He made his A-match debut in a friendly match against Qatar in October 2021 and became a key player in the 202 Qatar World Cup. He also played as a starting member in the first group match at the UEFA Euro 2024, and made three saves in penalty shootouts in the round of 16 against Slovenia, inducing his team to advance to the quarterfinals.

Costa has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe. He is the No. 1 goalkeeper in terms of soccer statistics such as “Transfermarkt.” Currently, his ransom is 45 million euros, the same as Georgia’s Giorgi Maradashvili. Gianluigi Donnarumma, Guglielmo Vicario, Ederson, Alisson, and Jan Oblak are all under him.안전놀이터

Rumors of Costa’s transfer also surfaced in May. At the time, Galetti posted on his SNS account, “Costa has been contacted by Chelsea, who are looking for a new goalkeeper. Porto will not rule out his sale this summer, provided the appropriate amount is offered. Other PL clubs such as Manchester City are also interested in him.” Against this backdrop, Saudi Arabia has also entered the bid race and is expected to have a full-fledged bid with the PL.
