Korea University has invited the President of Botswana Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi, Wednesday for a special lecture on how to foster cooperation in higher education between Korea and the southern African nation.
The lecture was attended by Korea University President Kim Dong-one and some 180 students and staff of Korea University, as well as 20 government officials from Botswana.
“Botswana is one of the African countries that best practices democracy and has huge potential in resources and education,” Kim said during a welcoming speech. “We expect to cooperate (with Botswana) in several ways, especially considering that President Masisi was formerly an educator.”
President Masisi highlighted the African nation’s potential for cooperation and development in the future and expressed anticipation over how 안전 partnerships between Korea University and Bostwana’s six major universities will contribute to advancing higher education in the two countries.
Korea and Botswana established diplomatic relations in 1968, and this is the African nation’s third presidential visit to Korea. The occasion came as Masisi visited Seoul for the first-ever Korea-Africa Summit.
Korea University and key prestigious universities of Botswana plan to engage in student exchanges and ICT research cooperation, according to Korea University.
