Jürgen Klopp, 57, has announced his departure from Liverpool.
“Jürgen Klopp has announced his intention to leave the club at the end of the 2023-2024 season,” the Reds announced on their official website on Saturday.
Klopp began his managerial career in 2001 after finishing his playing career at FSV Mainz 05, where he immediately took charge. He then took charge of Borussia Dortmund in 2008, leading them to two Bundesliga titles and a UEFA Champions League runner-up finish.
Klopp then joined Liverpool in 2015 and has been in charge of the club ever since.
He has won seven trophies with Liverpool, including one Premier League title (2019-2020), the FA Cup (2021-2022), the EFL Cup (2021-2022), 안전놀이터 and the UEFA Champions League (2018-2019).
“Klopp has revealed his decision to Liverpool and explained the reasons behind it,” Liverpool said.
“I know this will come as a shock to many people when they hear it for the first time,” Klopp said. But I can explain it clearly,” Klopp began.
“I love everything about this club, I love everything about the city of Liverpool, I love everything about the supporters, I love the team, I love the staff. I love everybody, but I have made this decision because I am convinced that it is the right thing to do.”
Klopp added: “I don’t know how to say it…the energy is running out. Obviously, I have no problem with it. I knew for a long time that I had to make an announcement at some point, but now I’m really fine. I know I can’t do this again, and again, and again, and again.”
He continued: “I already informed the club in November and there are no problems now. There will be a goodbye at the end of the season. I am grateful to Liverpool.”
“I want to have a challenging final season,” he said.
Liverpool said: “Our representatives respect Klopp’s decision and, in order to prepare for the future, the management team will continue to identify the next manager. The club thanks Klopp for his commitment to Liverpool and is determined to build on his achievements when he leaves.”
Liverpool added: “We have two objectives. “We have two objectives: to ensure that what Jürgen Klopp has achieved is maintained in the final months of the season. The second is to continue our investigations to prepare for a future without Klopp. These ambitions are driven by the club and its supporters. If there are significant developments in these areas, we will update you again.”
