The Doosan Bears of the Korean Baseball Organization swept a three-game weekend series against the SSG Landers. Doosan won 13-11 against SSG at SSG Landers Field in Incheon, South Korea, on April 9, thanks to a walk-off home run by Kim Ki-yeon.
Doosan’s batting order was center fielder Jeong Soo-bin, second baseman Kang Seung-ho, right fielder Jared, catcher Yang Yang-ji, first baseman Yang Seok-hwan, designated hitter Kim Jae-hwan, third baseman Heo Kyung-min, shortstop Jeon Min-jae, and left fielder Cho Young-sang.
SSG’s starting lineup was Choi Ji-hoon, center fielder, Choo Shin-soo, designated hitter, Choi Jung, third baseman, Heredia, left fielder, Han Yoo-seom, right fielder, Kim Min-sik, catcher, Park Sung-sung, shortstop, Jung Jun-jae, first baseman, Oh Tae-gon. Starting pitchers are Choi Won-joon for Doosan and Song Young-jin for SSG.
Doosan struck first. In the first inning, Kang Seung-ho singled to left, stole second, and scored on a double to left-center field by Yang Ji-hyun. SSG answered in the bottom of the inning when leadoff hitter Choi Ji-hoon hit a solo shot over the middle of the plate after an eight-pitch battle with Doosan starter Choi Won-joon.
Doosan took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning when Yang Ji-ji hit a two-run arch over the right field wall, followed by Yang Seok-hwan’s back-to-back solo shot to left.
Kim Jae-hwan singled, Heo Kyung-min walked, and Jeon Min-jae singled to extend the lead to 5-1.
The power of SSG’s bats was immense. They scored nine runs to make it 10-5. Doosan capitalized on a walk, a hit and an error in the fourth inning. With runners on second and third, Jared lined a single to left-center to bring home both runners. Doosan tied the game in the sixth inning on a solo shot to left by Jared, and in the bottom of the eighth inning, Yang Seok-hwan singled to left-center and Heo Kyung-min doubled to center.
Doosan tied the game at 11-11 in the ninth when Jung Soo-bin singled, stole second, and scored on Kang Seung-ho’s wild pitch and Jared’s infield single. At the plate was Kim Ki-yeon. The rookie, who is 5-for-17 with nine RBIs this month, singled to left field to drive in Jeong Soo-bin and Kang Seung-ho.

Jared was the standout among the team’s hitters, going 6-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored, while Jung Soo-bin (5-for-3, four RBIs), Kang Seung-ho (5-for-2, three RBIs), Yang Ji-ji (4-for-2, one home run, three RBIs, one run scored), Yang Seok-hwan (6-for-3, one home run, two RBIs, one run scored) and Heo Kyung-min (4-for-2, two RBIs) all had solid performances.
